I live in a quaint New England town, having moved here from sunny South Florida. While the Northeast has its perks—history, charm and overall beautiful landscapes—the one thing I struggle with most is the lack of central AC. With old houses comes old technology, or, in this case, lack thereof. While we do benefit from a window unit on the hottest summer days, I still struggle with my own body heat causing excess sweat in my sleep. When I first heard about the BedJet 3 Climate Comfort Sleep System, I knew I had to try it for myself and write my own BedJet review.

Don’t be mistaken: The BedJet 3 is not an air conditioner or a replacement for one if a sleeper really struggles with hot summers. However, as someone who has difficulty falling and staying asleep when my body temperature fluctuates through the night, I have finally found the perfect system for me—here’s why.

What is the BedJet 3 Climate Comfort Sleep System?

The BedJet 3 Climate Comfort Sleep System is a compact machine that releases rapid air-based cooling, warming and sweat-drying comfort right in the bed. It works with existing bedding, but for the very best cooling performance, consider adding a Cloud Sheet (sold separately) that comes with snap closures to ensure the cooling air stays locked in. The BedJet air nozzle connects right to the Cloud Sheet, enabling the evenest distribution of air in the bed.

Because of its compact size, the box fits easily under most bed frames with only 6″ of clearance, so it stays out of sight while keeping the user cool (or warm) all night long.

BedJet 3 product features

The BedJet 3 bed cooling system comes with a variety of features to ensure the most comfortable night’s sleep regardless of the season. The powered air cooling rapidly wicks away body heat and moisture for fast cooling relief, making this an excellent solution for hot sleepers, night sweats and hot flashes. The BedJet 3 system is compatible with any size bed, brand mattress and bed frame—within minutes it’s installed and ready to cool any hot sleeper down.

BedJet was the first company to introduce biorhythm sleep technology that enables the sleeper to pre-program personalized cooling and warming settings for every hour of the night. If your body temperature changes constantly throughout the night BedJet’s biorhythm feature helps with temperature regulation—no more waking up to adjust a thermostat or sticking a leg outside the covers until you’ve cooled off.

The heat mode feature gives the bed a “just out of the dryer” warmth in mere seconds, providing a safer alternative to electric blankets while warming the bed 15x faster.

The best feature of the BedJet 3 system is the convenient remote control. Even though the BedJet comes with a Bluetooth-enabled app, most people turn off their phones while asleep—and that’s where a remote comes in handy. The BedJet remote allows you to control the temperature by degree, adjust airflow settings, set an auto-shutoff and program biorhythm sleep temperatures, all with real-time feedback from the color screen.

Backlit keys light up just enough to see the buttons in the dead of night without blinding yourself or your partner. Additionally, the updateable firmware means the BedJet 3 will never become obsolete.

How we tested it

To give a proper BedJet review, I used this product for over three weeks during the first unbearably hot weeks of summer. The first thing I noticed when taking it out of the box was how compact and sleek it was. My husband helped set it up, and it took less than ten minutes from beginning to end to start the cooling process.

Once plugged in and connected to the remote, the rest of the setup was incredibly easy. After attaching the Cloud Sheet with its snap closures, I began to see the bedsheet rise slightly. If you have a comforter on top, you don’t have to worry about the sheet creating a dome of air, but if you use just the sheet, it might puff up awkwardly.

I was immediately impressed on the first night of my BedJet review. It cooled down my body temperature and for the first time in a decade, I did not sweat excessively through the night. The cool sheets kept my body regulated to a comfortable temperature, even on the hottest nights. I love being able to control it with the remote to change the fan speed, temperature and setting to my liking.

The only complaint in my BedJet review is that I have a very low bed frame, so the BedJet doesn’t fit under it easily. I’d have to lift the frame to slide it under. However, it doesn’t bother me to have it sitting neatly next to my side of the bed.

Pros

  • Takes less than ten minutes to set up
  • Both cools and heats the sheets
  • Has a dry air option for humid locations
  • Convenient remote controls the system with ease
  • Bluetooth app available but not required
  • Free returns for 60 days

Cons

  • Pricey, but well worth the price for restful nights in my opinion
  • If you have a low bed frame, the box may not easily fit under the bed

FAQ

Does the BedJet 3 actually cool the air?

The BedJet is an air-based system,  but it’s not to be confused with an actual air conditioning unit. The BedJet uses convective & evaporative methods of cooling that’ll keep the user cool in bed if the bedroom temperature is 79 degrees and under. It works at regulating body temperature to keep you cool inside the blanket, unlike an AC that simply cools the air around you.

How much does the BedJet 3 cost to run electricity?

While in cooling mode, the BedJet 3 uses 40 watts. Running the unit for 8 hours while asleep will cost between $12.75 and $89.26 on average per month. However, states with higher kWh figures run even higher. For reference, an average window AC unit cost between $20 to $80 a month depending on the BTU.

Does the BedJet need water?

No—the BedJet runs completely on the air in the room, using it to circulate through the sheets for a cooling night’s sleep.

What other reviewers had to say

One BedJet reviewer is finally sleeping through the night. “I have been sleeping much deeper with the BedJet. The third night I used it I actually slept through the night. I can’t remember the last time I did. It is an excellent product and worth every penny.”

“This really is a sleep game changer,” begins verified Amazon reviewer Marlee. “I work out a lot, and it leaves my body burning hot, so I stayed up at night feeling like I was on fire and trying to get comfortable. This product has helped so, so much and I’m sleeping way better than ever. I love the easy setup, the remote with a million options and the way the fan feels on my skin. I’m recommending it to everyone I know.”

Another BedJet reviewer finds relief from her menopause. “I’ve had the Bedjet for about a month and every single night I sleep well. I have been dealing with night sweats from menopause and foam mattress heat. I’ve been miserable if I’m completely honest. I bought a single unit and single sheet for our king-size bed because my husband wants to be warmer than me. It works perfectly. The unit is quiet, keeps me cool but doesn’t interfere with hubby and does exactly what it promises.”
The heating feature even ensures a toasty night’s sleep in the winter, with reviewer Dave boasting about the feature. “The heat function of this thing is amazing. If it’s winter and you like a warm bed this is worth the money for sure. My feet get cold in the winter and this will toast them.”

Final verdict

Finding a product that keeps me cool even on scorching summer nights is a downright miracle. The BedJet 3 efficiently cools me down, providing exceptional airflow throughout the bed which has significantly improved my sleep. I wake up feeling refreshed and energized—without any pesky night sweats.

I haven’t used the heating feature yet, but the cooling feature works fantastically and I love that I can change the intensity of the fan speed. Overall, my BedJet review is exceptionally positive—and I’m confident you’ll love it, too.
