The Nicest Places in America is Reader’s Digest’s annual search for places where people are kind, resilient and work to make their communities better. In 2022, the Nicest Place in America was Coulterville, California, where neighbors show up for one another time and time again to rescue people, homes and livestock from the constant threat of wildfire in the arid California landscape. Nicest Places can be towns, neighborhoods, community centers, businesses, libraries or any place made special by the people who frequent it–and we’re looking for our 2023 winner.
